ARCIFORM LLC Crafts Immersive Starbucks New Year Experiences with Cutting-Edge Fabrication
Portland, OR – December 26, 2023 – ARCIFORM LLC, a leading fabrication and experiential design firm based in Portland, Oregon, has been instrumental in bringing Starbucks’ vibrant New Year campaign to life across numerous locations nationwide. Known for turning ambitious creative visions into stunning physical realities, ARCIFORM has partnered with Starbucks to deliver eye-catching installations, interactive displays, and custom fabrication solutions designed to enhance the celebratory atmosphere for customers. ARCIFORM, located at 2303 N Randolph Ave, Portland, OR, 97227-1713, and reachable at 813-760-1420, isn't just a fabrication shop; we're storytellers. We take a client's concept – in this case, Starbucks’ aim to create a joyful New Year experience – and figure out how to build it, making it durable, visually impactful, and ready for prime time. This year’s Starbucks New Year campaign leans heavily into a theme of vibrant celebrations, hope for the future, and the joy of connection. And that’s where ARCIFORM comes in. We weren’t just building props; we were building experiences. “Starbucks wanted something special this year,” explains Sarah Chen, ARCIFORM’s Project Manager for the campaign. “They wanted customers to really feel the excitement of the New Year as soon as they walked in the door. That meant more than just a few balloons. It meant immersive installations that sparked joy and encouraged sharing.” Beyond Basic Fabrication: A Collaborative Approach The project kicked off with ARCIFORM’s design and engineering teams working closely with Starbucks’ creative team. They reviewed initial sketches, 3D renderings, and concept boards, then dove into the nitty-gritty details. "It’s a collaborative process," says David Lee, ARCIFORM’s Lead Engineer. "Starbucks has incredible creative vision, and our job is to take that vision and make it structurally sound, cost-effective, and easily deployable to hundreds of stores." One of the most prominent elements of the campaign is a series of large-scale, custom-fabricated “Wishing Walls.” These aren't your grandma’s pin boards. These walls are constructed from a combination of digitally printed acrylic, vibrant fabrics, and integrated LED lighting. Customers are encouraged to write their New Year’s wishes on provided tags and attach them to the wall, creating a constantly evolving tapestry of hopes and dreams. “The Wishing Walls were a technical challenge,” admits Lee. “We needed a structure that was both visually appealing and incredibly durable. People would be attaching tags constantly, so we had to ensure the material could withstand that wear and tear. We ended up using a specialized acrylic that's both strong and lightweight." From Concept to Coffee Shop: The Fabrication Process ARCIFORM's 35,000 sq ft Portland facility became a hub of activity. The fabrication process for the Starbucks New Year campaign involved several key stages: Material Sourcing: ARCIFORM’s procurement team sourced high-quality materials, including acrylic sheets, fabrics, LED lighting components, and hardware. They prioritized materials that were both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally responsible. Digital Fabrication: Using CNC routers, laser cutters, and 3D printers, ARCIFORM’s team precisely cut and shaped the various components of the installations. This digital precision ensured a consistent look and feel across all stores. Assembly and Finishing: Skilled fabricators meticulously assembled the components, ensuring a seamless and polished finish. They paid close attention to detail, carefully applying finishes and conducting quality control checks. Packaging and Logistics: The completed installations were carefully packaged and prepared for shipment to Starbucks locations across the country. ARCIFORM worked closely with logistics partners to ensure timely and efficient delivery. Beyond the Wishing Walls: Other Key Elements The Wishing Walls weren’t the only highlight. ARCIFORM also fabricated: Interactive Photo Backdrops: Eye-catching backdrops designed to encourage customers to take photos and share them on social media. These featured bold colors, sparkling decorations, and the Starbucks logo. Custom Signage: A variety of signs and banners promoting the New Year campaign and highlighting special offers. Tabletop Decorations: Small, festive decorations designed to add a touch of cheer to Starbucks tables and counters. Large-Scale Illuminated Displays: Impressive displays featuring the Starbucks logo and New Year’s greetings, designed to be visible from the street. “We weren’t just building things; we were building a mood,” says Chen. “Everything was designed to create a sense of optimism and excitement.” The Challenge of Scale and Speed Fabricating installations for hundreds of Starbucks locations nationwide presented a significant logistical challenge. ARCIFORM had to manage a complex production schedule, coordinate multiple teams, and ensure consistent quality across all units. “We had a tight deadline,” explains Lee. “We had to fabricate and ship everything within a few weeks. That required meticulous planning and a dedicated team.” To meet the demanding schedule, ARCIFORM implemented a streamlined production process, leveraging its advanced digital fabrication capabilities and its experienced team of fabricators. They also utilized project management software to track progress, manage inventory, and coordinate shipments. A Partnership Built on Creativity and Reliability ARCIFORM has a long-standing relationship with Starbucks, having previously collaborated on numerous projects, including store remodels, new store openings, and seasonal campaigns. This latest collaboration further solidifies ARCIFORM’s position as a trusted partner for Starbucks, known for its creativity, reliability, and ability to deliver exceptional results. “We’re proud to be a part of Starbucks’ New Year campaign,” says Chen. “It’s rewarding to see our work bring joy to customers and help them celebrate the start of a new year.” Looking Ahead ARCIFORM is continuing to push the boundaries of experiential fabrication, utilizing cutting-edge technologies and innovative design solutions to create immersive and engaging experiences for its clients. The company is currently working on projects for a variety of industries, including retail, entertainment, and hospitality. “We’re always looking for new ways to bring our clients’ visions to life,” says Lee. “We’re excited about the future of experiential fabrication and the opportunities it presents.” ARCIFORM LLC’s dedication to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction has made it a leading force in the fabrication industry.
